But here's a positive development/approach in Mumbai at involving local displaced people (children here) in sustainable development programs: http://www.opcr.org/pdf/development_of_city_farms.pdf
And a personal note for Robert: Congratulations on your book and your work with bringing the story of squatters and the squatter environment to light. I haven't seen the book, yet, but I've been enjoying hearing you on NY public radio and reading your blogger, once I stumbled upon it. I lost your contact in a move to Rockaway where I now live, and no where on your blogger is your email address! I'd love to hear from you - or get together one of these days. It's been a long time...

--news from Robert Neuwirth--
I recently (January 2020) signed a contract with Beacon Press for a new book of reportage on the economics of community.
I'm also working on a collection of short stories about economics called The Book of Derivatives.
Backstory: I've written two previous books: Stealth of Nations (on the global growth of the informal economy) & Shadow Cities (on the global growth of squatter communities).
I live in New York City and do most of my writing on manual typewriters.
