Squatter Communities on Fiji

In further proof that squatters exist in the most unlikely places, The Fiji Sun reports that squatter communities are growing as urbanization continues on the island. The housing ministry is vowing to relocate any squatters who lose their land leases.

hey roland,

unfortunately, I found no other way of contacting you, so I leave a comment (sigh).

Did you hear that the dutch governement is planning to outlaw squatting? Although it is quite doubtful, if ant state repression wil be effective against the well organized dutch squatting movement, especially seen the the housing crisis that is rampant in the netherlands since virtually _ever_, it is the campaign against this projected change of law that is worth a look at. The dutch squatters movement has been on the forfront of the housing struggle continiously since the early 1970's, booking great successes in building autonomous social centers and forcing governements of all colour to adjust housing policies towards social distribution at various occasions.
